ENGLAND’S Men's and U19 Boy's indoor cricketers have at last shown their potential in a international 3-test series against quality, if inexperienced opposition.
For England, who sent over the teams that took part in the 2009 World Cup in Brisbane, Australia in October 2009, the Cross channel Challenge proved a stern test that showed the benefits of the hard work that had been put in by Wayne Kylander, the England Head Coach, and his colleagues.
Guernsey were whitewashed in both grades, and the test series has shown the Sarnians how much they need to improve before playing in the next Indoor Cricket World Cup in Johannesburg in October 2011.
Following his success with team of Coaches who coached the England U19 Girls to reach the Indoor Cricket World Cup semi-finals in Brisbane, Stephen Franklin proved that he is fast becoming one of the finest young indoor cricket coaches in the world.
ICE's selection policy was vindicated with the captains of both grades, Anish Patel - U19 Boy's and Blake van der Linde - Men's, being voted as Player of the Series.
Wayne Kylander commented that ‘This WICF test series has given us the opportunity to test our strengths and weaknesses in both grades, and we know what to work on for further success in 2011'.
ICE and all the England players would like to congratulate Jason Green on winning his 50th test cap. Jason was presented with a bat signed by all the players to commemorate this notable achievement.
Congratulations also go to Lee Nightingale and Kashief Hussain, who made their international debuts in the Men's grade. The Men's 3rd test was a personal success for Kashief, who had an outstanding game, and won the Man of the Match award.
