"I'd like to clear up the position concerning the Test Caps that were recently awarded by Indoor Cricket England to all England players, and officials who recently took part in the Cross Channel Challenge vs. Guernsey in the Men's and U19 Boy's Grades on 5-6 March 2010.
Since the AGM of the World Indoor Cricket Federation in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 2 November 2008, ICE has been the governing body of 8-a-side Indoor Cricket in England according to the constitution and election process of the World Indoor Cricket Federation.
This means that ICE is responsible for governing the game in England until such time as the WICF affiliation for England passes to another organisation. Amongst ICE's duties are arranging international tours, selection of England teams, and the awarding of Test Caps for tests played.
ICE and Indoor Cricket Guernsey spent almost 12 months arranging the 2010 Cross Channel Challenge, and there can be no doubt that the Test Caps and recognition acheived by players and officials of both countries are valid under the WICF constitution. The Cross Channel Challenge now will be an annual event between England and Guernsey.
For the sake of clarity, the Test Caps and personal recognition achieved during the 2009 Indoor Cricket World Cup and 2010 Cross Channel Challenge have the same standing as all Test Caps that were awarded by any and all of the previous governing authorities of 8-a-side Indoor Cricket in England, namely the United Kingdom Indoor Cricket Federation, British Indoor Cricket Association, or England Indoor Cricket Association.
On 24 March 2010, the Chairman of the ECBIC, Ashley Lawrence, applied by email for affiliation to the WICF. To ICE's knowledge this affiliation has not been granted as at 17h00 on 6 March 2010.
As the current Secretary-General of the WICF, I fully intend to abide by the decision of the WICF Board concerning the affiliation of the ECBIC, provided they meet the WICF's criteria for affiliation and complete the affiliation process".
